One of the most common reasons for business failure is a lack of planning. For over two decades, the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership has offered is a 10-week business development course as a solution that gives prospective business owners all the tools necessary to start their business successfully and operate them profitably.
In the Micro-Enterprise Business Development and Training Program, students learn about essential business functions and the main components of a formal business plan. By thinking through business scenarios, students identify and plan for the many pitfalls that can lead to business failure. The course also focuses on the managerial skills needed to grow and maintain their enterprise. Course topics include managing business records, financing your business, managing cash flow, pricing your products/services, and more. Guest speakers may include accounting, legal, and marketing professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss business banking and financial considerations with regional small business bankers.

As an entrepreneur, he both invests in businesses and provides consulting services to companies in the areas of business strategy, development, and financial management. In 2009, he was recognized by the Dayton Business Journal as a 40 and Under Forty Honoree. As a Miami Valley Community Action Partnership instructor, he teaches micro-enterprise and entrepreneurship as a tool for wealth creation.
